Wetzel, Christian

Prof. Christian Wetzel has been professor of oboe at the Cologne University of Music since 2008. He is also a guest lecturer at important music institutes such as the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York.

In addition to his teaching and international solo activities, he devotes himself intensively to chamber music and gives concerts at important festivals. He is oboist and founding member of the renowned Ma’alot Wind Quintet, which has won numerous international first prizes, including at the ARD Competition in Munich. Multiple recordings, world premieres and close collaboration with important contemporary composers also demonstrate his commitment to new music.
