Prof. Arbo Valdma, professor at the Cologne University of Music since 1992, received his training in Tallinn and at the Moscow Conservatory. He has performed as a soloist throughout Europe and Australia under N. Järvi, K. Sanderling and A. Rabinowitsch and has made numerous recordings.
In the former Yugoslavia, as a leading piano teacher, he held professorships at the music academies in Belgrade and Novi Sad until 1991, as well as guest professorships on all constituent republics. As a master class lecturer he held over 100 courses in Europe, the USA and Asia. His students have won prizes at many international piano competitions (Geneva, Vienna, Brussels, Leeds, Munich, Vevey, Bolzano, Vercelly, Washington). As an author and director, he has produced numerous television and radio programmes. In 1991 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Tallinn University.
