Michail-Pavlos Semsis

Michail-Pavlos Semsis was born in Athens in 1993. He received his first violin lessons from his father at the age of 6, before finally switching to double bass at 12.

From 2012 to 2019, he studied at the Nuremberg University of Music with Prof. Dorin Marc. During this time he successfully participated in various competitions. Among others, he reached the semi-finals of the ARD Competition 2016 and received the 2nd prize of the Sperger Competition 2016. During his studies, he already had the opportunity to help out in several orchestras. Since 2018 he is solo bassist in the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig and since August 2021 solo bassist in the WDR Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he works as a lecturer at the Gutenberg University Mainz and the Nuremberg University of Music.
