Prof. Johannes Hinterholzer

Prof. Johannes Hinterholzer studied with Prof. Josef Mayr and Prof. Radovan Vlatković at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and won numerous prizes at national music competitions while still being a student. In 1998 he received the first prize at the competition “Gradus ad Parnassum” Austria.

He is professor of horn at the Munich University of Music and Theatre. From 1997 to 2009 he was principal horn of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and since 2012 he has been principal horn of the Camerata Salzburg. In addition to his orchestral activities, Hinterholzer is a sought-after chamber music partner. One of his specialities is playing on historical horn instruments: Baroque horn and natural horn. A complete recording of Mozart’s horn concertos with Prof. Johannes Hinterholzer and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg was highly acclaimed in the international press.
