Prof. Arnulf von Arnim was born in Hamburg, studied in Frankfurt, Stuttgart and with Pierre Sancan in Paris. He took part in master classes with Claudio Arrau and Wilhelm Kempff. He won first prize at the “Viotti” in Vercelli and “Maria Canals” competitions, among others.
He has given concerts in most European countries, the USA and Japan and has played with Frank Peter Zimmermann, Ulf Hoelscher, Saschko Gawriloff, Vesselin Paraschkevov, Julius Berger, Maria Kliegel, Ivan Monighetti and David Geringas. He was a professor at the Folkwang University Essen, and after working at the Universities of Music in Munich and Frankfurt, he is now a senior professor at the University of Music Münster, a visiting professor at the Musashino University in Tokyo and the Osaka Ondai Academy of Music. For 30 years he has directed the International Schubert Competition for Piano in Dortmund and the International Summer Academy in Cervo (Italy).
