For over three decades, the Cologne Piano Trio has been at home on concert stages in Europe, South America and East Asia as a virtuoso and expressive ensemble.
Three mature artistic personalities combine to form a chamber music ensemble. Following the retirement of pianist Günter Ludwig, violinist Prof. Walter Schreiber and cellist Prof. Joanna Sachryn have continued the successful tradition in a new artistic constellation with Wolfgang Manz since the 2019/20 season. Since the beginning of 2024, the pianist part has been in the hands of Paul Rivinius, one of the most renowned pianists of our time.
Communication is the key word when talking to the musicians of the Cologne Piano Trio about their work. Communication with each other, but above all with the audience. Introductory talks, short moderations before the works played or lecture concerts are intended to open up and deepen access to and perspectives on familiar masterpieces and unknown repertoire.
