
Jürgen Ellensohn was appointed professor of trumpet at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts for the 2025 summer semester. Previously, he held professorships at the University of Music in Würzburg (2019–2025), the Stella Vorarlberg Private University of Music (2022–2023), and the Vorarlberg State Conservatory (2015–2019).
As principal trumpeter, he served for 15 years with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester) and previously with the Bern Symphony Orchestra. Guest engagements have taken him to the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, among others. As a soloist, he has performed with numerous orchestras and collaborated with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, and Matthias Pintscher.
He is also passionate about chamber music: he is a member of the ensembles Pro Brass and The Philharmonic Brass. Numerous audio and video recordings document his stylistic versatility.
