The concert “Im Garten der Stimmen” by the vocal ensemble THE PRESENT with Hanna Herfurtner (soprano), Olivia Stahn (soprano), Amélie Saadia (alto), Tim Karweick (tenor) and Florian Hille (bass) will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 7 pm in the concert hall of Haus Marteau, Lobensteiner Str. 4, 95192 Lichtenberg.
Tickets are available at a price of 25 euros, concessions 12.50 euros (pupils, students and disabled persons). A binding online ticket reservation (see below) is required.
The longing for a place where humans and nature are in harmony is as old as humanity itself and is probably more urgent than ever in times of climate crisis. Whether in paradise, Arcadia or the Elysian Gardens: here, nature is subservient to man, entirely voluntarily. The animals are tame, the climate is spring-like and the food grows in everyone’s mouth. The people here live together in serene harmony; their lust knows no sin, the gods are always favorable to them. However, a second glance reveals that such paradises always have a catch: Those who do not abide by the rules are chased away. And many a nymph in Arcadia is so harassed by love-crazed gods that she has no choice but to transform herself into a tree, a swan or even a stone that can only echo others.
The Berlin vocal ensemble THE PRESENT embarks on a search for the echoes of golden paradises: With voices it lets flowers speak, airs blow, birds sing. Compositions from the 15th and 16th centuries can be heard alongside contemporary works by Sidney Corbett, Lucia Ronchetti, George Aperghis, and Laura Steenberge.
