Program
Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849)
14 études from Op. 10, Op. 25, and Op. posth.
– Intermission –
13 études from Op. 10, Op. 25, and Op. posth.
Chopin’s études in both of his major collections were intended at the time as studies and, where appropriate, for concert use, but were not intended to be performed in their entirety, let alone in precise sequence. It was only the publishers who soon compiled his études into several opuses.
Robert Neumann has approached a complete presentation of the etude oeuvre with a flexible approach, recombining the individual miniatures and linking them into two independent plots. This opens up new dramaturgical developments that shed new light on some of the etudes and their characters.
Robert Neumann
Born in 2001, Robert Neumann, “one of the most promising piano talents,” grew up trilingually in a family of musicians. He received lessons from Monika Giurgiuman and Elza Kolodin. He is currently studying for his concert exam with Eldar Nebolsin in Berlin. The young pianist made his orchestral debut with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra at the age of eight.
As the winner and prize winner of numerous national and international competitions – most recently 1st prize at NYCA (New York Concert Artists) in 2023, the Gold Award at the NTD International Piano Competition 2024 in New York, and the German Music Competition 2025 – the exceptionally talented Robert Neumann was honored with the International Classical Music Discovery Award and named OPUS KLASSIK Young Artist.
He shares his enthusiasm, fascination, and joy of making music with Julia Fischer, Daniel Müller-Schott, Sebastian Manz, Olli Mustonen, and many others. Neumann’s compositions have recently been premiered by Julia Fischer, Benjamin Nyffenegger, Alexey Stadler, and others.
