Roth, Linus

Prof. Linus Roth

After Prof. Linus Roth was already named ECHO Young Artist in 2006, he received his second ECHO award in 2017 for his recording of the violin concertos by Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Roth has also made an international name for himself with the rediscovery of unjustly forgotten works, especially with regard to the oeuvre of Mieczysław Weinberg. In 2012, he was appointed to a professorship for violin at the “Leopold Mozart Centre” of the University of Augsburg and is also the Artistic Director of the Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition. Prof. Linus Roth is also the artistic director of the international festival Ibiza Concerts, which he founded, as well as the music festival Schwäbischer Frühling in Ochsenhausen. He plays the Stradivarius “Dancla” from 1703.
